YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

  • What are the benefits of using beef tallow on your skin?
Beef tallow, especially when sourced from grass-fed cows, is a natural skincare powerhouse. It's free from harmful additives and packed with nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids that nourish and protect your skin. Its unique fatty acid profile closely matches human sebum, allowing it to deeply moisturize and deliver nutrients without clogging pores. Tallow also contains natural anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for soothing conditions like eczema, rosacea, and diaper rash. Perfect for all skin types, it provides long-lasting hydration and helps maintain a healthy, balanced skin barrier.
  • Are your products USA-made?
Yes. Our balm is proudly USA-made, and our beef tallow is sourced right here in America. The other three ingredients in our balm are sourced from the countries to which they are native because we prioritize quality and authenticity: - Blue Tansy (Morocco): Blue tansy flowers thrive in Morocco's unique climate and soil. - Manuka Honey (New Zealand): New Zealand is the only place where the Manuka tree naturally grows, producing honey renowned for its purity and potency. - Organic Jojoba Oil (Argentina, Israel, Panama, USA): We select jojoba from regions where it’s grown sustainably and in optimal conditions, ensuring it meets our high standards for nourishing skincare.
  • What can I expect in terms of scent when it comes to beef tallow balm?
Our tallow balm has a mild, natural scent that reflects its pure and simple ingredients. While the base tallow may have a subtle, earthy aroma, the addition of blue tansy oil provides a light, sweet and calming scent that offsets any potential "beefy" odor. It’s important to note that this isn’t your typical chemical-filled, artificially fragranced skincare product. It’s tallow—pure, nutrient-rich and unprocessed—crafted to nourish your skin naturally without compromising on health or integrity. The gentle, authentic aroma is a testament to the balm's simplicity and effectiveness.
  • My tallow balm seems to have a gritty texture. Why is this and what do I do?
We strive to keep our batches consistent, but because tallow is a natural product, it is prone to texture change from temperature fluctuations. Basically, when tallow cools, it naturally solidifies, and when it warms up, it melts. During these temperature transitions, the fat molecules don’t always reorganize in a smooth manner, which can lead to the gritty texture. When it is exposed to cooler air and then warmer air repeatedly (which it may be, going from the Amazon warehouse(s) to trucks to sitting in a mailbox or porch), it can cause that sort of crystallization. We find that when that happens, storing it in a warmer temperature (i.e. a window in the sun) makes it a little softer. Also, even with a slightly grittier jar, the grit will still rub and melt into your skin very easily. If you want to get rid of the grit, you can follow this simple procedure. We have done it ourselves, and it works! Ensure the lid to the jar is on tight. Take a cooking pot with about half an inch of water in it and bring it to a simmer so there are tiny bubbles in the pot. Not a full boil. Stick the jar in there with lid on. Leave for 5-10 minutes, just enough time for the tallow to melt completely. After 5-10 minutes, pull it out carefully (will be hot), dry the jar off and when you take off the lid, it should be completely melted and in liquid form. Next, you will leave the lid off and place the jar in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. Timing may vary based on how cold your fridge is. Once the tallow is firm and no longer in liquid form, pull it out and it should be smooth and ready to use again, without grit!
  • Why is your tallow balm light blue?
Our tallow balm gets its unique blue color from blue tansy oil, a luxurious ingredient known for its soothing and hydrating properties. Blue tansy oil is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds, making it perfect for calming irritation, redness, and blemishes, especially for sensitive or acne-prone skin. Though blue tansy flowers are actually yellow, the oil turns blue during the steam distillation process due to a compound called chamazulene. This unique transformation gives the oil its vibrant color and its powerful, skin-calming benefits. Plus, it helps lock in moisture, leaving your skin soft, smooth and hydrated without any greasy residue.
